The first LMS Pacifics to be introduced. They had a couple of years as the top express locomotives of the LMS until the Duchesses started to appear. Gradually, they spent most of their time on London to Liverpool trains as well as the other shorter West Coast mainline routes with the Duchesses taking over most of the longest journeys.Their demise took place during 1961 when replaced by class 40 diesels. A few returned to use when the diesels struggled to cope with a severe winter but eventually the Princesses went for good during 1962.Two(6201 & 6203) are preserved.
